White Denim. That summer standby.
And, by "standby", I mean these just sit in my closet and I never have the guts to wear them. With #1yearNoShopping I'm forcing myself to pull these out and make them work for the long haul. Make no mistake, this was not easy breezy. This was a solid hour in front of the mirror making a 3 seasons old pair work 3 different ways.
But I'm so glad I did. Let's get to it:
This was the easiest. I quite literally swapped the white denim in to a suit.
Keep it polished with closed toe pumps (no sandals) and your standard black blouse.
With a longer jacket, I'm applying the same rule as leggings at work: Cover your butt.
This is my favorite summer work bag! Big enough for everything, has a water bottle pocket, and the fabric wipes clean. By Stella & Dot
Navy and white is so classic for summer, but I hesitate to look too nautical. Keep your cottons away; airy silk keeps this looking more city.
Black sandals/bag instead of neutral hues achieve the same sidewalk-not-boardwalk vibe.
A loose gauge knit and a stacked neutral heel lends a more beachy look to otherwise polished flares.
I tried tirelessly to make a cool tee work here, but in the end the fold-over detail on the back of this top won.
